Cala Violina takes its name from a detail that makes it unique: tiny grains of quartz that play a melody with every step. Sound beaches are an ancient phenomenon, already narrated by Marco Polo. There are just a hundred similar places in the world, and Cala Violina is one of them.Cala Violina, in the Mediterranean scrub of the Scarlino nature reserve, is a strip of beach facing an uncontaminated sea, enclosed between two promontories. Cala Violina can only be reached on foot or by bicycle.

The experience focuses on making the cheese. We start with the milking parlour, where guests can see the machines that are used today, but above all to try for themselves what it was like to milk by hand in the past. Then it's on to the actual production of the cheese, which is made in a stone cellar using the same methods as our grandparents, using copper pots and wooden implements. At this stage, the collaboration of the guests comes alive, making with their own hands a small wheel of cheese to take home as a souvenir of this wonderful experience, but above all as a symbol. The participants visit our entire farm with its animals: you can feed the little lambs with your hands, see the chickens and visit the pastures where you will also find our faithful allies against wolf predators: protection dogs.

Etruscan hollow way
The Vie Cave in southern Tuscany are a network of Etruscan hollow ways, up to 20 meters deep, carved into the tuff rock. They are mainly concentrated in the triangle between Pitigliano, Sorano, and Sovana. To this day, the exact purpose of these roads, some up to 2,000 years old, remains an archaeological mystery.
